Sport Chalet key metric rises in fiscal 2013

Sport Chalet reported its first annual increase in comparable store sales in six years for the 12 months ended March 31.

The company said same store sales for fiscal 2013 increased 3.7%. In 2013, comp sales increased three out of four quarters.

Sport Chalet reported a loss for the year, but the loss narrowed vs. 2012.

Q4 2013

Total sales: up 7.2% to $87.8 million

Same store sales: up 6.8%

Team division sales: up 23.1%

Online sales: up 20%

Net loss: $2.3 million vs. $3.8 million

The company said same store sales were boosted by stronger sales of winter goods vs. the same period in 2012.

2013

Total sales: up 3.1% to $360.6 million

Same store sales: up 3.7%

Team sales: up 19.5%

Online sales: up 21.5%

Net loss: $3.3 million vs. $5.1 million
