Old Vine Cafe, at The CampOld Vine Cafe

I’m so happy for brothers Brandon and Mark McDonald. They are young, nice guys working hard to make it with their first restaurant, which opened in June. The brothers have pared down their personal living expenses to pour everything back in the business. I’m also happy for their mom, who was the major investor in the cafe! Here’s link to a post I wrote about the brothers in July: Old Vine Cafe story.

The Irvine Co. named Thomas Ryan executive chef of Pelican Grill, part of the new resort under construction in Newport Coast. Ryan has worked at several luxury hotels including The Omni Interlocken Resort in Colorado. The restaurant and golf course will open in November, with the rest of the resort opening in fall of 2008.
