EL SEGUNDO, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Source Interlink Media, LLC (“SIM”), a leader in Enthusiast Publishing in both print and online, named veteran media executive Norb Garrett to the post of senior vice president, group publisher of the Action Sports & Recreation Group. This includes all SIM brands within the Action Sports Group, Marine Group, and Home Tech Group. Garrett, 47, will be based in the company’s San Clemente, Calif., office and will report directly to Chris Argentieri, Source Interlink Media’s chief operating officer.

Garrett has an impressive career in national media. He recently served as an editorial consultant to Competitor Group directing the relaunch of its flagship title, Competitor magazine, in March 2010. Prior to that, Garrett served as editorial director at Miller Publishing Group (MPG) in Los Angeles, Calif., from 2004-2009, overseeing and directing all editorial, online and new media efforts for Tennis, Smash, Spin, Vibe and Where magazines.

Garrett has also held the position of creative director at EMAP Metro Sports Group, directing the editorial strategies for Sport, NFL Insider and other properties including the Gravity Games. He originally joined Petersen Publishing in 1997 as the editor-in-chief for Sport.

Garrett is a board member of the Western Publishing Association and member of ASME, the American Society of Magazine Editors. A graduate of the University of Maryland’s journalism school, Garrett currently lives in San Clemente, Calif., with his wife and two children.
