MANHATTAN BEACH, Calif. (July 1, 2015) – The Shmooz at Agenda is shaped up to be a multi-dimensional event featuring many of the industry’s best employers, a Work-Life roundtable discussion, and discover a community involvement opportunity with Adaptive Action Sports.  The free event will take place on July 9, 2015 at the Long Beach Convention Center in Southern California.

Kicking off the event from 11:00am – 11:30am will be a Work-Life discussion panel focused on how to create an effective job search and progressive career strategy. Speakers include John Seely of Oakley, Karina Philyaw from FoxHead, Amber Costello at Surfline, and Leslie Juvin-Acker who is an Executive / Career Coach at LJ Acker Coaching and regular contributor to Malakye.com.  Work-Life is inspired by a new section on Malakye.com.

The Shmooz is on starting at 11:30am to 3:00pm!  Oakley, Quiksilver, Roxy, DC Shoes, Surfline, TOMS, Billabong, FoxHead, and more than a dozen more industry leaders will be on hand to recruit for current job opportunities as well as discuss future opportunity. Amber Costello, Director of Human Resources at Surfline has two purposes in mind, “The Shmooz is not only an incredible opportunity to meet top talent who is interested in Surfline, but it allows us to personalize the recruiting experience and showcase what our culture is all about.”

Community is important to the industries represented at The Shmooz and this event marks the first inclusion of a Community Involvement section with the inclusion of Adaptive Action Sports (AAS), a non-profit organization supporting action sports athletes with physical disabilities and wounded veterans. The organization, co-founded by paralympian and inspirational speaker Amy Purdy, will be looking for its next volunteers, interns, and videographers.
