OTIS Becomes One of the Fastest Growing Eyewear Brands in Action Sports
OTIS Eyewear, an Australian founded, premium, 100% mineral glass lens eyewear brand is pleased to announce the release of its new 2016 Spring line.
This is OTIS’ third release since entering the U.S. market in 2014 and it is now one of the fastest growing eyewear brands in the Action Sports sector. Store data produced by Action Watch shows OTIS grew 158% over prior year and the $175 to $250 price segment that it occupies grew significantly in 2015. This success makes OTIS a bright spot in an otherwise challenging year for the eyewear category.
Charlie Anderson, OTIS Americas Vice President of Sales remarked, “We feel 2015 was a breakout year for OTIS. OTIS’ unique point of difference allowed it to rise above in a challenged retail environment. After two years in the U.S. market, customers have become familiar with our scratch resistant mineral glass lenses. We have invested a lot into education at the point of sale and we are seeing that payoff for our retailers. We’re excited to carry this momentum into 2016.”
OTIS also enjoyed a strong year internationally. The Australian business has grown steadily since launching in 2000, but 2015 saw the largest growth since its inception. Charlie adds, “That success has helped us tremendously in the U.S. We have customers who experience the brand in Australia and look for it when they come home.”
The newest product line in OTIS’ collection was premiered at major trade shows throughout January including Agenda Long Beach, Agenda Miami and Surf Expo Orlando to a strong response from retailers. The 2016 range features 27 new products that include an expanded polarized offering, a newly designed women’s line, and is highlighted by this seasons Sea Glass Collection.
For the second year in a row, OTIS has been recognized in the 2015 SIMA Image Awards as a nominee in the much-coveted “Breakout Brand of the Year”, further highlighting the growing strength of the brand.
