Facebook Marketing Lead Jennifer Spies Joins Surfrider Foundation’s Board
The Surfrider Foundation, a leading grassroots organization dedicated to the protection and enjoyment of our ocean, waves and beaches, today announced the addition of Jennifer Spies to the organization’s Board of Directors.
With more than a decade of business strategy experience, Jennifer currently leads Facebook’s global product marketing for brand video to drive meaningful connections between people and businesses.
“We’re pleased to welcome Jennifer Spies to Surfrider’s Board of Directors,” said Dr. Chad Nelsen, CEO of the Surfrider Foundation.
“As a surfer, sailor and business leader who also experienced firsthand the devastating impacts of the 2010 BP oil spill, Jennifer’s wealth of experience and background will contribute to our mission to protect the ocean and coasts for the future.”
Prior to her current position, Jennifer led Facebook’s product development for the Middle East and Africa, working extensively in emerging markets to develop technologies that empower and connect local communities.
Before joining Facebook, Jennifer served as a National Security advisor on Middle Eastern policy, and worked for Google Dot Org’s connectivity initiative in Rwanda.
“I’m thrilled to join Surfrider’s Board of Directors,” said Jennifer.
“I grew up near the white sand beaches of Pensacola, Florida and spent the majority of my life near the ocean. Making sure our coasts are clean and accessible for everyone is a mission that’s personally very important. Surfrider’s work to protect our coasts is more important than ever, and I’m excited to work closely with the organization as it drives impact and preserves our ocean for generations to come.”
Jennifer holds a Masters of Business Administration from Harvard Business School, graduated with honors from Stanford University and currently resides with her husband in Half Moon Bay, California.
