Tillys Brings Augmented Reality In-Store This Halloween
Tillys, a leading omni-channel specialty clothing retailer, has launched a zombie-themed augmented reality game ahead of Halloween as part of its always-on augmented reality (AR) strategy.
The game is accessed by scanning codes found on POS in Tillys stores using the Tillys mobile app. Customers are tasked with defeating the zombies which pop up on their phone screen by firing objects at them. On completing the challenge, customers will be eligible to win a VIP experience for two people to see The Chainsmokers perform in Los Angeles on November 26. The prize includes roundtrip airfare, hotel accommodation for two nights, $200 cash gift card for ground transportation, access to the pre-show soundcheck, a Q&A with the band, and an exclusive viewing area to watch the show.
The Halloween AR experience is powered by Zappar’s AR technology within the Tillys app. Zappar and Tillys have been partnering since 2017 to bring AR experiences to 229 Tillys stores across the US. Past campaigns have included an in-store scavenger hunt with YouTube influencer Shonduras, wherein customers could scan custom codes using the Tillys app on POS around the store and unlock discount coupons. Earlier this year Tillys also partnered with the High School Esports League (HSEL) to offer students at 1,200 high schools across North America care packages and the chance to compete for premium prizes through an AR mobile game experience powered by Zappar at Tillys stores.
