HiHeyHello Magazine Launches
At the intersection of adventure, sport, and art, HiHeyHello is a quarterly women’s print magazine bringing together stories from the outdoors, actions sports, and creative culture. Women make up fifty percent of outdoor enthusiasts yet are consistently underrepresented in outdoor and action sports-focused media.
A journal-style publication, HiHeyHello, shares stories about the women who are redefining adventure culture- from the makers and shakers to the athletes and the activists. Content includes profiles, coverage of food, gear and art, environmental and social issues, and outdoor experiences ranging from surfing to rock-climbing, snowboarding to bike-packing, mountaineering to skateboarding, and everything in between. The vibrant content comes to life with modern design and quality paper and printing. A female photographer is behind the lens of every cover image.
“I saw an opportunity for a new media outlet to share women-centric stories and to celebrate the diversity of experiences, abilities, colors, and bodies. No longer are women adhering to or tolerating outdated stereotypes of who and how we recreate. There’s a movement for increased inclusion and accessibility; at the same time, badass women are rewriting the rules of adventure and creative culture. A printed magazine allows these stories to be absorbed and contemplated beyond a quick scroll. In a time where we are always connected to our screens, a tactile and very curated form of content provides inspiration and respite, ” says founder, Sierra Domaille.
HiHeyHello Magazine is reader-supported. Annual subscriptions and Issue 002 are available at www.hiheyhellomagazine.com. Issue 002 features a photo series re-imagining a version of American surf history with Black women surfers. Adventure cyclist Lael Wilcox shares why she rides and legendary National Geographic photo editor Sadie Quarrier discusses risk and what it takes to find the “gold frame.” Ceramicist, Sara Wolf, is inspired by nature and ultra-runner Jonnah Perkins dissects her unconventional life as an athlete, farmer, and mother plus so much more. At 94 pages of content, Issue 002 shares a diverse range of stories and images.
The name HiHeyHello was born from a conversation about inclusion in the outdoors. Stopping to say “hello” is a small act of acknowledgment that breaks down barriers, leaving space for impactful and positive experiences.
HiHeyHello Magazine is founded by Sierra Domaille & Juhee Kim. Sierra is a mountain girl at heart who also enjoys surfing waves and exploring the forests of the Pacific Northwest. Juhee is passionate about design and illustration. When she’s not creating, Juhee is on the water fly-fishing.
