Rusty Surfboards Names New Director of Operations
Clearly the Covid-19 global pandemic has brought multiple changes and huge demand to the surf as well as the overall sporting industry. The market for all types of boards has exploded with many manufacturers being out of stock and sitting on a multi-month backlog. Rusty’s integrated, West Coast manufacturing capability has allowed for rapid production growth and now Rusty has taken the next step by hiring Matt Jones, as the new Director of Operations at Rusty Surfboards. As Director of Operations Matt will rethink and plan for the evolution of Rusty manufacturing and go to market strategy. Matt joins Rusty Surfboards with 25+ years of industry experience under his belt and a proven track record.
“I am so proud to welcome Matt on board the Rusty Factory Team”, said Rusty Preisendorfer, founder and CEO at Rusty Surfboards. “I’ve known Matt for the better part of two decades. One of the things that I think everyone will appreciate: Matt is a great communicator. We have plans for serious growth. I couldn’t think of anyone better for the job!”
Matt joins the Rusty Surfboards team skilled in multi brand management, business development, sales strategy, national sales management, key account management, international sales, and territory sales.
“I’m stoked to be a part of the Rusty Surfboards family” notes Jones. “It’s such an iconic brand within the surf industry!”
This next step within the leadership team at Rusty Surfboards is incredibly exciting and the team is looking forward to capitalizing on this unique time within the surfboard manufacturing industry with opportunities in the surfing populations’ openness to new (and older) designs, wave pools, and new untapped market verticals.
