Vans Unveils New Street Course in Salt Lake City
Vans recently unveiled a brand-new street course in Salt Lake City next to its park course at the Utah State Fairgrounds, ahead of Tony Hawk’s Inaugural Vert Alert Skate Event. Tony Hawk, Zion Wright, Bobby Gascon, Senior Director Global Marketing for Action Sports at Vans, and Jeff Robbins, Utah Sports Commissioner were on-site for a ribbon cutting ceremony and discussion on what this park can bring to the Salt Lake community.
The street course was designed with feedback from over 700 members of the skate community through an online questionnaire. Vans, Utah Sports Commission and California Skatepark hosted a virtual townhall to workshop the plans with local community leaders and general public as an inclusive effort to meet the community’s needs. The new course will feature more street-style elements such as rails, boxes, stairs, quarter ramps, and more.
Vans has long been dedicated to empowering local (and global) communities through skateboarding. In 2019, Vans donated three legacy skateparks in Montréal, Paris/Chelles, and Salt Lake City. Each park provided an equal opportunity for men and women to experience the creative and inclusive culture of skateboarding in a state-of-the-art facility right in their own backyard.
