Street League Skateboarding Strengthens Partner Roster
Street League Skateboarding today announced two new additions to its stable of 2021 SLS Championship Tour partners. The sport’s premier competition series sees its list of sponsors expand alongside a growing competitor field, with over 50 of the world’s best skaters – including 22 Olympians – facing off for the 2021 title.
Cariuma – a conscious shoe brand known for major advances in material innovation, environmental initiatives and product durability after launching the lowest carbon footprint sneaker in the world – will now serve as the presenting partner of the SLS Super Crown World Championship. This is the pinnacle event of the 2021 SLS series, coming to Jacksonville on November 13 and 14. Now in its third year, Cariuma is connecting with skate shops worldwide, bringing sustainable, ethical values to more skaters through their local communities.
Cariuma’s entry to the global skateboarding market includes skate team endorsement deals with 2021 SLS: Salt Lake City men’s champion Gustavo Ribeiro (Lisbon, Portugal), Olympic men’s silver medalist, Kelvin Hoefler (São Paulo, Brazil) and SLS pro Lucas Rabelo (Fortaleza Ceara, Brazil).
The latest addition to the 2021 SLS field is Cariuma’s Jagger Eaton (Phoenix, AZ). Eaton, a bronze Olympic medalist, earned a Wild Card spot onto the tour at the Tampa Pro event earlier this month.
In addition, Athletic Brewing Company joins Visible and Skater XL as new partners this year across the tour. Launched in 2018 for adults who want to enjoy great-tasting, high-quality beer without the alcohol or impact on personal goals, Athletic Brewing holds a nearly 50 percent share of the non-alcoholic craft beer category, the industry’s fastest-growing segment. As the first all-digital wireless service in the U.S., Visible is ideally positioned to reach the digitally-oriented skateboarding community. The Verizon-owned company has been named to Fast Company’s Most Innovative Companies list and was named “Best Telecom Brand” in Adweek’s 2021 Challenger Brand Awards. Skater XL, which represents the latest evolution of skateboarding gameplay, will also allow fans to virtually compete on SLS courses.
These four new companies join SLS founding partner Monster Energy, which has extended its SLS sponsorship, alongside NHS (parent company of 11 brands, including Bronson Speed Co., Independent Trucks, Mob Grip and Santa Cruz Skateboards), Tech Deck and True Skate. The sponsor portfolio is rounded out by 7-ELEVEN and StockX, who joined SLS as branded content partners earlier in the year.
Joe Carr, CEO of Thrill One Sports & Entertainment – SLS’ parent company – said: “As round two of the Championship Tour approaches and the competition intensifies, we’re excited to welcome new partners, like Cariuma, to SLS. The growing support from multiple industries not only demonstrates the rising popularity of the sport but also Street League’s ability to reach a global skateboarding audience that is young, engaged, and digitally-native”
The next opportunity for competitors to earn crucial 2021 series points will be at the tour’s second stop, coming to Lake Havasu, Arizona’s Rotary Park on October 29 – 30. Event organizers have put the finishing touches on the bespoke custom-designed course at Rotary Park, located near the iconic London Bridge.
