Digital First Retailer Pacsun Creates First-Ever NFT
Pacsun has taken a step further into the metaverse with the introduction of its first-ever NFT, designed around its iconic logo. The digital first retailer initially teased its foray into the space with the announcement of a future game coming to Roblox in 2022, earlier this year. As Pacsun continues to embrace its brand and what it stands for, while harnessing its progressive approach in the digital realm, designing a dedicated NFT is the brand’s next phase around its digital discovery and engagement.
The NFT was created by Pacsun’s in-house team, who are behind most of the brand’s creative efforts, as they are fully immersed in the day to day operations and in a constant dialogue with the Pacsun community. As more retail and fashion brands enter the NFTs world in unique ways, from gaming to digital replications of products, Pacsun aimed to develop their first NFT around the element that embodies them the most – the Pacsun logo. Celebrating over 40 years of Pacsun, the exclusive 1-of-1 animation of the original Pacsun logo takes customers back to the retailer’s beach city rooms with reimagined elements for today.
“Our logo is our brand, it is the Pacsun name that our consumers have come to know and love” said Brie Olson President at Pacsun, “As we continue to be disrupters in the digital space, there was no better way to make our presence known than by paying homage to our community and transforming our logo, the authentic staple associated with our brand, into the one-of-a-kind art piece that is our first NFT.”
The exclusive NFT will start at a bid of $500 and will be sold through Open Sea, a marketplace for NFTs, rare digital items and crypto collectibles. Timed to align with Giving Tuesday, all proceeds will go to an organization close to the Pac Family, the Fashion Scholarship Fund (FSF), a national non profit that awards over $1 million in scholarships to students annually, and is the nation’s foremost provider of scholarships, mentoring, entry level positions and professional development to the country’s most-talented students from all backgrounds. Pacsun and the Fashion Scholarship Fund teamed up earlier this year to launch a gender-neutral design competition, spotlighting the next generation of talent and their interpretation of unisex fashion. The limited edition capsule collections designed in collaboration with the two FSF winners will debut in 2022.
Pacsun’s NFT comes on the heels of its many digital firsts in fashion, including most recently the emergence into cryptocurrency through its partnership with BitPay and it’s Holiday Snapchat Lens store displays. The retailer has also increased in live streams presence over the past year to bring the in-store experience online and consistent evolution on social and digital platforms, which has brought its total social followers to over 7 Million across TikTok, Instagram, Twitter and Facebook.
