Skateboarder Andrew Reynolds Joins New Balance Numeric
New Balance Numeric is proud to announce the addition of Andrew Reynolds to our global, professional skateboarding team. Reynolds’ illustrious career as a skateboarder, company owner, and role model for future generations has spanned three decades and shows no signs of slowing down.
Hailing from Lakeland, Florida, a young Reynolds turned heads after impressive performances in amateur skateboarding competitions across the state in the early 1990s. Soon after, he was personally recruited by Tony Hawk to join his newly formed company, Birdhouse Skateboards. To pursue his passion for skateboarding, Reynolds left Florida and moved to California.
In a community where video output is integral to one’s recognition, Reynolds is viewed as one of the most productive professionals to date and has continuously redefined skateboarding’s boundaries. Since 1992, he has made over 40 video appearances on behalf of several of the industry’s most prominent brands. Notable productions include The End (1998), Baker2G (2000), This is Skateboarding (2003), Baker 3(2005), Stay Gold (2010), and Baker 4 (2019). Additionally, he was named Thrasher Magazine’s Skater of the Year in 1998 and has been featured in eight iterations of the Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater video game franchise from 1999 onwards, catapulting him to becoming a household name.
In conjunction with his success as a professional skateboarder, Reynolds launched globally respected Baker Skateboards following his tenure at Birdhouse. Since 2007, he spearheads Bakerboys Distribution, which houses Baker as well as partner brands such as Deathwish Skateboards.
Reynolds has consistently contributed to the community not only through his skateboarding but also as a mentor. He is attributed with launching the careers of dozens of skateboarders, just as Hawk did for him at a young age. Using his own life experiences, Reynolds acts as a positive role model and mentor for many of his riders, leading by example to show how they can also accomplish their dreams.
“My goal is to skate as hard as I can, for as long as I can. New Balance’s attention to detail and their focus on the team’s needs is what first drew me to the brand,” said Reynolds. “I believe they are making the best skate shoes for me right now. I love that Numeric, the skate division, is a focused team of people that I can continue to grow with; I already feel at home and energized.”
New Balance Numeric is thrilled to welcome Andrew to the team, where he will be joining Deathwish professionals Jamie Foy and Jake Hayes, and good friends Tiago Lemos and Brandon Westgate.
“It’s a special feeling knowing that New Balance Numeric is contributing to keeping a legend such as Andrew Reynolds skating for as long as possible,” said Tyrone Romero, Global Marketing Manager at New Balance Numeric. “Skateboarding needs Andrew Reynolds; we are very happy to be supporting his skateboarding and vast contributions to our culture.”
