Top-Viewed Stories of 2022
Our top-viewed stories of the year often provide insight into the biggest news going on in the industry, and 2022 was no different.
The changes happening at the industry’s two largest companies – Vans and Boardriders – dominated the headlines this year.
After nearly 20 years of stellar results since being acquired by VF Corp. in 2004, Vans lost its momentum recently and is not hitting revenue targets. That has led to executive changes and a reorganization at the brand.
And Boardriders, home to Billabong, Quiksilver, Roxy, RVCA, DC Shoes, Element, and VonZipper, is in the midst of a prolonged sale process that has retailers, employees, and competitors concerned about the potential fallout.
With the inventory challenges in the industry, the pending Boardriders sale, and economic uncertainty in the air, 2023 will likely be an eventful one for many companies and retailers.
