805 Beer Drops New Female-Led Ad Spot with Acclaimed Athletes
Today, Firestone Walker Brewing Company released the latest effort for 805 Beer featuring a female-led ad spot including a diverse cast of trailblazing athletes and creators, known as “Authenticos.” The campaign showcases the brand’s ongoing commitment to spotlighting the stories of remarkable individuals breaking through in their prospective endeavors. These narratives, explored with each Authenticos’ voice, illuminate a path forward for the next generation of athletes and artists.
The ad spot, which drops on International Women’s Day, features a cinematic look at these pioneering women, speaking to the shared ethos of 805 Beer and its drinkers. 805 Beer Authenticos featured in the spot include X-Games gold medalist and freestyle moto icon Vicki Golden, professional MMA fighter Tabatha Ricci, Babes Ride Out founders Anya Violet and Ashmore Ellis, singer-songwriter Jade Jackson, and thru rider and explorer Gillian Larson.
Expanding their partnership with the World Surf League and passion for California surf culture, 805 Beer also announced an official partnership with WSL Championship Tour Series and Santa Barbara, CA-born surfer Lakey Peterson. Peterson adds to 805 Beer’s team of Authenticos and will be the subject of films and other campaigns highlighting her journey as one of the premiere athletes in surfing. Peterson is widely known for her progressive surfing, athletic force, and rise through the ranks at a young age. She has been ranked as high as #2 for the 2018 World Surf League Championship Tour and #6 on the ASP Women’s World Ranking. In 2009, Peterson landed the first-ever aerial in NSSA women’s competition history and won the title.
“We have an ongoing mission as a company to highlight and support Authenticos who don’t just work hard to achieve their dreams, but also to inspire and create a platform for others,” said Dustin Hinz, Chief Marketing Officer for Firestone Walker. “Fueled by a constant pursuit of the path less traveled, it’s the essence of these compelling stories that connects 805 Beer with drinkers who share our passion and values for a life well lived. As a brand and community, we are grateful to celebrate these amazing individuals not just on International Women’s Day, but every day.”
“Teaming up with 805 Beer is an exciting endeavor for me because we share so many of the same values and passions for life, surfing, and creativity. I was born and raised in the 805, so it’s incredibly natural to have them on my board and part of my team,” said pro surfer Lakey Peterson. “I’m excited for the stories we’ll tell together and the work we’ll do to celebrate the surfing community and inspire others to pursue their dreams.”
The campaign belongs to a wider holistic brand effort, the largest in the company’s history, spanning immersive culture marketing, strategic partnerships, trade programming, and the brand’s continued commitment to world-class storytelling through 805 Films and other content. Upcoming programming includes:
- The release of the 805 Beer short film “Reaching The Unknown” featuring professional thru rider and explorer Gillian Larson. In the film, Larson reminisces over the bond she’s built with her horses, allowing her to face fear and conquer whatever trail she sets out on, including her multiple adventures traversing thousands of miles on the Pacific Coast Trail. - 805 Beer’s continued partnership with Babes Ride Out, the world’s largest women-only motorcycle movement, has been ongoing for over a decade. The Babes are now included in The Dirt adventure series. Watch 805 Beer’s Babe’s Ride Out “Back to Borrego” film HERE.

“As the feeling of being free and fully alive comes in many forms, I found mine on a stretch of trail in the backcountry with just me, my horses, and a willingness to venture into the unknown,” said professional thru rider and 805 Beer Authentico Gillian Larson. “I’m very excited to create this film with Firestone Walker and 805 Beer to share more of my story in such a beautiful way. Growing up in the canyons of California, I have a strong connection to the ethos and mission of the company. I’m thankful for this opportunity to share my passion and spirit of adventure with others.”
