Melin Names Longtime Stance Executive Domonique Checkwood VP of Sales
Veteran sales executive Domonique Checkwood, who everyone in the industry knows as Domo, has joined San Clemente, California-based Melin as vice president of sales.
Checkwood spent the past 10 years at Stance, most recently as vice president of wholesale sales. Before that, she worked in sales at watch company Nixon. An avid snowboarder, she also worked as a sales rep for Burton snowboards in Southern California for five years.
“We couldn’t be more excited to be adding Domo to the melin senior leadership team running our sales department,” said melin co-founder and President Brian McDonell. “I’ve known about her for many years and her name is always mentioned with high praise. We have been such fans of the category-defining brands and distribution strategies Domo has overseen and been a part of leading in her career.”
McDonell said Checkwood’s track record of building best-in-class teams coupled with her ability to help navigate progressive trend-setting retail partnerships was what melin was looking for.
Melin, of course, has become an important brand for the industry with its high-quality, higher priced caps. Retailers never thought they could sell $70 hats until melin came along.
“Domo understands the importance of prioritizing added value for our retail partners and building the business with the long-term brand health and premium positioning at the forefront of all our choices,” McDonell said.
Checkwood will work with melin Senior Director of Sales Jeff Tuttle, who McDonell said has done a great job navigating the brand’s growth to date.
“We are super excited to add Domo’s oversight and experience to help us capitalize on our potential and become more meaningful to our key partners,” McDonell said.
