Salty Cali is seeking a National Sales Manager to lead the strategic development and execution of Salty Cali’s wholesale channel.  Salty Cali is a fast-growing beach jewelry brand that was founded, and still 100% owned, by two women in in 2014 in La Jolla, California.  Salty Cali is currently sold in over 350 surf, outdoor, and boutique shops nationwide.

The National Sales Manager is a dual role, and the primary responsibilities are 1) building and leading Salty Cali’s sales rep network, and 2) key account development and sales.   The National Sales Manager will work directly with Salty Cali’s owners and will bring a clear vision to develop and implement short and long-term sales strategies that support Salty Cali’s wholesale goals.       

Job description and responsibilities

  • Develop high-level strategic sales plans to deliver on sales goals and to build the Salty Cali brand.
  • Analyzing sales data and market trends to identify opportunities for growth.
  • Sales Rep Leadership
    • Ensure that Salty Cali is well-represented in all domestic US territories, with a vision for future international market development.  This will involve hiring reps for currently unrepresented domestic territories.
    • Creation of well-designed, data-driven sales targets for all sales reps.
    • Work cross-functionally with Salty Cali team to develop effective sales rep reporting and management tools.
    • Work with reps to maximize the sales potential at every Salty Cali retailer.
    • Setting sales targets and monitoring sales rep performance
    • Frequent communication, training and support for sales reps to help each of them reach their full potential…and holding sales reps accountable to achieving sales objectives.
  • Key account sales
    • Cultivating and maintaining strong relationships with key accounts, including negotiating agreements and contracts - there is a lot of blue sky opportunity in the development of Salty Cali’s key account roster. 
    • Collaborating with marketing and product development teams to ensure alignment on brand messaging and product offerings.

Job requirements

  • Proven experience in managing high-performing sales teams while selling to key accounts.
  • Deep contact list across multi-location surf/outdoor accounts, key boutique accounts, and national department store accounts.
  • Strong leadership capabilities
  • Keen attention to detail in planning, organizing, and execution of tasks, while understanding the big picture and how all of the pieces fit together.
  • Team builder with bottom-line results orientation.
  • Team player who thrives in an entrepreneurial environment
  • Required technical skill set:
    • Sales reporting sales data analysis
    • Experience with industry-specific sales software
    • Microsoft Office (Word/Excel)/Google Suite (docs/sheets)
  • Creative thinking skills along with a passion for beach jewelry and an active lifestyle.

Experience/Education

  • 5+ years sales management/leadership, preferably in jewelry, surf-related products, or women’s accessories
  • Bachelor’s degree
