Job Description:

Manhattan Beachwear, LLC is a leading designer and manufacturer of women's swimwear, resort-wear, and loungewear. Located in Cypress and a Distribution Center in Buena Park, California. Manhattan Beachwear, Inc. designs, manufactures, markets and it's a trusted licensed partner and developer for industry leading La Blanca, 24th & Ocean, Maxine of Hollywood, Hobie, and Sunshine 79 brands, as well as private label merchandise for department stores.

We are looking for a talented Swimwear Designer to join our amazing team.

The position of Designer supports the needs of the Design Team for successful design and development of product lines.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborate with Director of Design and Merchandising Team to create a well-balanced, innovative swimwear line
  • Create presentations (Sketches, colorways, fabrics) mood boards and seasonal color palettes
  • Maintains brand "P.O.V" (Point of View) and "P.O.D" (Point of Difference) in collaboration with design peers, merchants.
  • Create and deliver effective, cohesive product presentations to "sell" into merchants
  • Create/coordinate ready for market sample lines.
  • Shop for prints, develop and create original artwork with textile team department, while maintaining and being responsible for artwork budget.
  • Work with product development team on all aspects of development and execution for lab dips, prints, components, novelty fabrics, package deals, from development to bulk.
  • Manage accurate communication and approvals for adopted components with internal team and PLM software
  • Initiate and execute sample request needs/SMS
  • Execution of flat sketch and detail illustrations for final line sheets
  • Partner with patternmaking to insure Fit standards and Quality are upheld
  • Assist in sales meetings with accounts, as necessary
  • Communicate effectively through the design lifecycle.
  • Adhere to design time & action calendar, meet all deadlines
  • Strong management and leadership skills required
  • Other duties as assigned

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • 5+ years of design experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Fashion Design (or equivalent work history in same industry)
  • Strong sketching and design capability
  • Resourceful, creative and efficient when faced with multiple projects or challenging deadlines
  • Comprehensive knowledge of textiles (swimwear preferred)
  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of fit
  • Demonstrate visible leadership at the team and division level, and initiate the opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Strong organizational skills and time management skills.
  • Demonstrate effective cross-functional & vendor-relations.
  • Ability to capture and create the “brand” aesthetic
  • Strong analytical abilities
  • Exceptional presentation skills and ability to influence at the senior management level
  • Proven verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient in AI, Photoshop, Blue Cherry / PLM systems preferable
  • Strong work integrity

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear, sit, and stand. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds. This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers and phones in addition to industry specific tools.
