Holiday core store tour: from Solana Beach to Costa Mesa

The route I took Saturday and Sunday for my store tour.
I decided to take an extended shop tour on Saturday and Sunday to see what was happening in core stores and some mall stores in Southern California in the all-important weekend before Christmas. With fewer shopping days between Thanksgiving and Christmas this year and slower consumer spending in general, the last weekend took on added importance this year. I also wanted to get a sense of the just how bad it was out there, and how much retailers needed to discount to move goods.
