Tickets now on sale for Liquid Nation Ball 7

Liquid Nation is held at the home of Reef co-founder Fernando Aguerre.

Aliso Viejo, Calif. (June 8, 2010) – The Surf Industry Manufacturers Association (SIMA) Humanitarian Fund is proud to announce that tickets are now on sale for Liquid Nation Ball 7, the official fundraiser for the SIMA Humanitarian Fund.

The star-studded event will take place on Saturday, August 14, 2010 in La Jolla, California, with proceeds benefiting 13 surf-related humanitarian organizations.

A highlight of the night will include the celebration and honoring of Jason Mraz as the 2010 SIMA Humanitarian of the Year.

“The surf community has drawn a circle in the sand and asked me to step inside of it. In this case, the circle is reserved for humanitarians and it delights me to be seen as such a person,” says Jason Mraz, 2010 SIMA Humanitarian of the Year.

“From where I stand within that circle of stoke, I’m inspired to work harder and be of greater service. As one of hundreds of thousands to be motivated by impactful organizations such as Life Rolls on, I’m humbled to be chosen as the SIMA Humanitarian of the Year.

“I look forward to Liquid Nation Ball as a chance to meet my comrades in contribution, expanding and strengthening this community and raising more funds, supporting the deserving beneficiaries of the night.”

“The SIMA Humanitarian Fund is immensely proud to honor Jason Mraz, who has a large heart for humanitarian causes and embodies the charitable spirit of Liquid Nation Ball,” said Fernando Aguerre, Liquid Nation Ball chairman and co-founder.

“Now in its seventh year, Liquid Nation Ball gets better every year and I know this year will prove to be the most successful and exciting year yet.”

Beginning at 7:30 p.m., Liquid Nation Ball 7 will be held at the oceanfront home of Fernando Aguerre, where one of the best private surfboard collections in the world is on display. The event includes dancing, live music, great food, open bar, and a short live auction of unique, one-of-a-kind items to benefit the 13 surf-related humanitarian organizations.

The SIMA Humanitarian Fund Board of Directors aims to continue the record fundraising legacy and raise $250,000 at Liquid Nation Ball 7.

“I urge everyone to help us hit our 2010 fundraising goal by buying their Liquid Nation Ball tickets now, as tickets are in high demand and the event sells out weeks before the big night every year,” said Aguerre.

“Supporting Liquid Nation Ball is just one way we can help these organizations and give back to serious issues such as breast cancer awareness, malaria relief, spinal cord injury prevention, and urban youth outreach, just to name a few. We are also lucky to be honoring Jason who has been fighting the good fight for humanitarian organizations and is invested in making this world a better place.”

Well-known as a two time Grammy award winner and for his clever, inspired way with words, Mraz is also known for his selfless dedication to charitable causes. Mraz is proud to consider himself as one of the hundreds of thousands to be motivated by Jesse Billauer of Life Rolls On, an organization that utilizes the sport of surfing to improve the quality of life of young people affected by spinal cord injury.

As an avid supporter of Life Rolls on, Mraz has dedicated himself to promoting the organization by garnering public support, serving as an honorary chairman for their events, and performing benefit concerts. In addition to his efforts for Life Rolls On, Mraz’s humanitarian work also extends to groups such as Save The Music, Musicares, Free The Children, as well as his hometown arts program, SPARC.

Tickets are available on a first-come, first-served basis and are $300 per person. Only 375 tickets will be sold. To purchase tickets or to make a donation, please go to www.liquid-nation.com.

Since 2004, Liquid Nation Ball has donated more than $1.25 million to surf-related, non-profit humanitarian organizations.
