DC’s Ken Block To Bring The Excitement Of Gymkhana To Fans In New Action Sports Event

July 6, 2011— Huntington Beach, CA— DC is proud to announce its sponsorship of Ken Block’s Gymkhana World Tour. DC Co-Founder and WRC driver, Ken Block, will bring the excitement of the DC x KB Gymkhana videos to life for fans through this live-action driving event.

Consisting of three stops across the world, Block’s Gymkhana World Tour kicks off this Sunday, July 10 in Vienna, Austria, before making its way to Los Angeles in the United States on July 23, finally wrapping up in Melbourne, Australia on September 3.

“Through the DC x Ken Block Gymkhana franchise of videos Ken has brought gymkhana style driving to the forefront of action sports and to an entirely new audience,” said Anton Nistl, DC’s President.

“We’re excited to be involved in this event that allows consumers to witness the action and excitement of gymkhana driving by Ken.”

The US stop of Gymkhana World Tour will take place at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, CA on July 23 from 12 PM to 5 PM.

Fans will get a firsthand look at Ken’s incredible gymkhana skills on a course designed specifically for the event, as well as have a chance to meet Ken at a DC hosted autograph signing and catch a glimpse of Block’s latest Gymkhana car, which will be put to good use soon for the next Gymkhana project.

“I’m stoked about bringing the Gymkhana World Tour to Los Angeles,” said Ken.

“I filmed the first two Gymkhana videos in California, so it feels right to be doing one of the three stops there. Plus, the Cali fans have always been amazingly supportive of my tire-destroying ways, so I know they’re going to love it. Seeing gymkhana on the Internet is one thing, but to experience it in-person is wild. It’ll also be the debut of my new top-secret car, so that’s a cool bonus for everyone that makes it out.”

Adding to the action of the day will be DC pro motocross athlete, Nate Adams, who will make a special appearance for a freestyle motocross demo along with pros Adam Jones and Blake “Bilko” Williams. For more information on the Gymkhana World Tour please visit: https://www.gymkhanaworldtour.com.

About Gymkhana

Gymkhana is an automotive sport that is practiced in a variety of paved locations. It’s a sport that requires a driver to skillfully maneuver their car around a series of cones, slaloms, turns, figure eights and tight donut boxes, as well as incorporating precise braking, handbrake turns and drifting in order to achieve the fastest line. While being similar to the sport known as autocross, gymkhana courses are typically more complex and require the memorization of the course in order to be successful. https://www.gymkhanaworldtour.com
