SIA creates backcountry experience for 2012

Press Release:

Snow Show’s BC Experience will showcase backcountry experts,

equipment & safety practices

WASHINGTON, DC (January 16, 2012) – To educate retailers on the latest in backcountry-specific products and safety practices, SIA will unveil the Backcountry Experience exhibit at the upcoming 2012 Snow Show (Jan. 26-29) in Denver, Colorado. The Backcountry Experience will focus on the latest in hardgoods, accessories and “Must Knows” in safety practices before heading out into the backcountry.

Whether splitboarding, alpine touring, telemark skiing or hiking up a boot pack; once you step beyond the boundaries, you’re on your own. In the backcountry, the right equipment and knowledge are not important but essential and for retailers, outfitting their customers with the right gear and safety knowledge is key to becoming the local expert.

To up retailers’ backcountry knowledge, the Snow Show’s Backcountry Experience (Booth #4506) will highlight the best gear, accessories and gather backcountry experts Dean Cummings, Mike Hattrup and Jeremy Jones to share their insights on proper route finding, gear trends, beacon basics, avalanche warning signs and more.

“It’s incredibly exciting to see the amount of growth that freeriding, backcountry and splitboarding are experiencing. Every season more and more riders are eager to push the traditional limits and explore deeper into the backcountry. The Backcountry Experience exhibit at the 2012 Snow Show will put the category front and center for the entire marketplace to see,” commented Jeremy Jones, owner of Jones Snowboards.
