Neff hires snowboard industry veteran as new President

Neff has hired a President to help the brand with its strategic planning and execution.

Industry veteran Brad Steward, a long time snowboard executive who founded the outerwear Bonfire and also held a variety of jobs at Amer Sports, a large, publicly traded Finnish company, starts at Neff today.

Neff CEO and Founder Shaun Neff - SES file photoCEO and Founder Shaun Neff told me he interviewed a lot of candidates for the position, and he liked how Brad had entrepreneurial and brand building experience in addition to knowledge of strategic planning and formulating and executing a long term vision.

Brad, who is moving to Southern California from Portland, will report to Shaun. Shaun will remain in charge of branding, creative, marketing, etc., which is his forte.

Neff has succeeded by immersing itself in youth culture and by providing products that resonate with kids today. While it needs to keep doing that, Shaun also wants to be sure the brand is thinking about the future as well.

“I learned a lot over the years, and I feel like I’ve been playing tennis,” he said. “We are very reactive, which has worked for us. But I’m also excited to learn how to play chess, and I think Brad is the perfect person to help us do that.”

Neff has been strengthening its management team of late, and recently hired former Oakley salesman Aaron Quigley to lead U.S. Sales. He joins Tom Faukner, who has been with the brand for several months now as Vice President of Sales. Tom spent many years in top sales management positions at Oakley, and also worked at eyewear brand IVI.

Shaun’s father, Joe Neff, previously served as President. He will remain on the board of directors and continue to be a part of key company decisions, Shaun said.
