Cariuma Partners With Skatepark of Tampa
Skatepark of Tampa (SPoT) proudly announces a new partnership agreement with sustainable skate shoe company Cariuma. The two-year partnership boosts the Skatepark of Tampa’s global footprint and reinforces Cariuma’s commitment to supporting skateboarding culture and its community. The partnership kicks off at Tampa Pro October 15th-17th 2021 and runs through Tampa Am 2022.
As host to the most defining contests for amateur and professional skateboarders, SPoT has consistently been an unrivaled destination since opening in 1993. Tampa Pro and Tampa Am are historically skateboarding’s most respected events and are enthusiastically embraced by the skateboarding community. Many of today’s skateboarding greats have claimed the podium at SPoT events, including Paul Rodriguez, Luan Oliveira, Torey Pudwill, Bastien Salabanzi, Jagger Eaton, and Nyjah Huston. With today’s announcement, the SPoT legacy will be stronger than ever thanks to Cariuma’s brand presence at the events along with the majority of Cariuma’s skate team.
Cariuma was founded by two Brazilians with a vast experience in the footwear industry and lifelong boardsport enthusiasts, Fernando Porto and David Python, who put people at the center of their mission. Born and raised in Rio, skateboarding has been a part of Co-Founder Fernando’s life since he was a child with a plethora of injuries to prove it. They started Cariuma in May of 2018 with a clear vision of creating a conscious brand built with premium natural materials that skateboarders and surfers would actually want to wear in the streets, to the beach, and beyond. The company announced its skate team in September 2021. Since its inception, Cariuma skate has taken the industry by surprise as a small but power-packed team of positively-minded individuals. And this past summer, the skate team performed and denominated the biggest stage for athletes, the 2021 Tokyo Olympics. Kelvin Hoefler and Jagger Eaton won the inaugural silver and bronze medals for the street skateboarding competition, which commanded the industry’s attention. In its third year, the brand is now bringing its presence to skate shops internationally, bringing our sustainable, ethical values to more skaters through their local communities. Cariuma shoes will soon be available at SpoT’s skate shop and ecommerce platform.
