Burton Becomes First Snowboard Brand to Launch Online Rental Program
Today, Burton is proud to officially announce its new online rental program – giving riders the choice of renting a full kit online and having their rental snowboards, boots, bindings and outerwear shipped to their destination anywhere in the continental US. Soft-launched in October on Burton.com, the industry-first program is powered on the backend by Arrive, the leading technology company that powers resale and rental channels for brands, and is ready to offer riders a streamlined service for experiencing more while owning less.
“Renting instead of owning helps decouple profit from manufacturing new products, which is another step towards reducing our collective impact on the planet,” says Elysa Walk, Burton Chief Business Officer. “Burton is actively pursuing an integrated program to re-sell retired rental gear, pushing the brand towards extended product lifespans and circular business models. Not only are we pleased to offer the convenience of this luggage-free travel option to our customers, we’re also excited about how the Burton online rental program supports our sustainability efforts.”
The new Burton online rental program is designed for riders looking to try new equipment, gear up for specific terrain, learn on the best products possible and avoid the cost and hassle of flying with extra luggage. An industry game-changer, the pilot program not only offers customers the innovative products they expect from the world’s leading snowboard brand, but also an innovative, affordable rental service. With the help of backend fulfillment support from Arrive, the Burton online rental program lets customers quickly and easily choose boards, boots, bindings, and outerwear online for short-term rentals, with the flexibility to cancel or change their reservation up to ten days before their trip.
The experience starts with Burton’s Gear Finder, helping riders pick out the best boot, binding, and board size options. Videos are available for further product education, and for more personal advice,Burton Guides and the Arrive customer service team are on-call for gear recommendations and questions about the rental service program.
“Arrive is beyond thrilled to partner with Burton Snowboards to launch their exciting new Burton online rental program,” says Rachelle Snyder, Arrive CEO and Co-Founder. “Arrive’s platform technology and operational capabilities allows customers rental access to premium Burton products, helping the brand further their sustainability impact and continue creating world-class experiences.”
Available online rental gear includes a variety of adult-sized equipment for any terrain with plans to expand the rental offering in future seasons. Highlights include the gender neutral Hometown Hero, built in a size range for a broad spectrum of riders and shaped for lively performance in all conditions. Another star of the rental line-up is Burton’s innovative Step On binding system, an intuitive, quick, responsive, and highly versatile boot and binding combination. Step On boots are also available to rent in wide sizes for a better fit on every foot. The rental quiver also features powder and park-specific boards, traditional strap bindings and boots as well as an outerwear selection focused on the highly-technical waterproofing and trusted breathability of Burton’s [ak] collection.
All equipment is professionally cleaned and in like-new condition, plus, rental equipment is shipped with the tools and hardware needed to get set up for adventure. When the trip is over, customers simply put their gear back in the original shipping box, use the included free shipping label and drop it off at any authorized UPS location.
