What’s New: Saturdays NYC Puts New Spin on Quiksilver Archive Pieces
Saturdays NYC took a tour of the Quiksilver archives to put a high-fashion spin on some of its favorite items.
The result is a 26-SKU collection that includes T-shirts, long sleeve tops, jackets, pants, sweatshirts, boardshorts, snow outerwear, hats, and bags. The collection retails from $45 to $425.
The range marks the first time the two brands have collaborated.
Saturday’s NYC co-founder and co-owner Morgan Collett said teaming with Quiksilver made a lot of sense having grown up in Newport Beach. Quiksilver, Collett said, was an “integral part of my roots.”
“Surfing, skating, and snowboarding was all we did,” Collett said. “It’s a surreal experience being able to work together on this collaboration with Quiksilver – one of the most iconic brands within the surf, skate, and snow world. We partnered with the Quik team and athletes to dig deep into Quiksilver’s roots and Saturdays New York’s design sensibilities to create a collection that represents our love for these sports and creative design.”
Collett started Saturdays with Colin Tunstall in 2009 as a single surf shop in Soho, selling boards, wetsuits, art, and accessories.
The business has since grown to include men’s and women’s apparel, in addition to brick-and-mortar retail. The store footprint includes the company’s flagship in New York, housing the Saturdays Café, along with two locations in Australia and five in Japan.
Former Quiksilver Global VP of Marketing Bobby Gascon noted similarities in where the two brands find their inspiration.
“Through this opportunity, Saturdays NYC has infused its fashion-forward influence into archival Quiksilver styles, and we are proud to deliver this timeless collection of utilitarian products for surf and snow enthusiasts alike,” Gascon said.
The Quiksilver x Saturdays NYC collection is available through the Quiksilver and Saturdays NYC online shops.
