Boardriders’ Latest Departures, Hires
As the transition period continues following the close of the Boardriders sale to Authentic Brands Group, here’s a roundup of the latest new hires and departures from the company.
Peter Shu to Firewire Surfboards
Peter Shu, formerly global digital marketing director for Billabong Men’s, has joined Firewire Surfboards.
His new job for Firewire is director, e-commerce and digital. At Firewire, he will report to CEO Dylan Slater. At Billabong, he reported to Dylan’s brother, Evan Slater, who ran global marketing for Billabong Men’s.
Stacy Takats to Stokehouse
Stacy Takats joined Stokehouse as the California, Nevada, and Arizona rep for the company’s Amuse Society and Sisstrevolution brands.
Takats had previously served as Americas director of visual merchandising for Boardriders’ Roxy, Quiksilver, and DC Shoes businesses.
“I started there just a young, semi-fresh of out of college, road merchandiser and weathered the storms through the bankruptcy, layoffs, and Andy Mooney era of the 2010s to rise to the ranks of director, leading a team of 10 visual merchandisers across the country and helping to design our retail spaces, offices/showrooms, windows, events, etc.,” Takats told SES.
“Despite all the changes and challenges over the years, that place was a family, gave so much to all of us, and bonded many of us far beyond just a ‘job.’ I would do it all over again, and it’s hard to replace.”
Takats spent over 13 years at Boardriders and, prior to that, had worked at La Jolla Group where she was an area manager for nearly three years.
She told SES she’s, “Looking forward to this new chapter and what it will bring for everyone.”
Mollie Moore to Stokehouse
Mollie Moore has moved to Vissla, Sisstrevolution, and Amuse Society as a graphic designer after working for Boardriders for five years.
She started her new job at the end of July after being part of the large Boardriders layoffs in November 2022.
At Boardriders, she worked as a graphic designer and associate designer over the years.
“The five years I spent at Boardriders were formative towards my career, but also provided me with experiences and memories I’ll hold onto forever,” Moore said. “I had the pleasure of working with some of the most inspiring, creative people that have helped shape me into who I am today. Looking back on everything as a whole – I’m grateful to have had the time off to restructure my goal, and explore new directions in my career. I’m hopeful and excited for what the future brings to the industry, and everyone involved in recent layoffs.”
